You’ve seen the stories; set in some far off year, when the world has ended and there’s some sort of oppressive force bearing down on the last remnants of humanity. It’s always set some hundreds, even thousands, of years into the future. That’s a lot of time to have passed; and, yet, the centuries in between are lucky to be just glanced over. What happens during those years? What is the world like right after the end as opposed to eons later?
Welcome to the year 2045, 33 years after the release of a supervirus that caused death of over 65% of the world’s total population. The new world is in shambles; fighting is a fact of life, law is a fleeting memory, and government has degraded into following whomever you think is a good idea. As if the monumental loss of human life wasn’t bad enough, those that survived the viral infection have been ‘altered’ giving humans abilities that could turn anyone into a demigod. Meaning that just about everyone can level a building if they get pissed off enough.
And the hits just keep on coming; a strange, outside party, has entered the world with an agenda that no human seems to know. These creatures, called ‘Rifts’ by the humans, will tear apart any creature that crosses their paths and are capturing the budding colonies that humanity has managed to put together.
Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Hell on Earth; welcome to ‘The Need to Survive.’
