They’re the root of all the normal's nightmares and horrors.
The stories that have manifested from the deepest roots of normal society have successfully placed a scarlet letter on their kind, rendering them untouchable. Unwanted. Feared.
As far as you know, Shadowland has existed as long as anyone can remember, always living in the shadows of the society that the people inside its borders so desperately wish to be a part of. You hear the rumors on the streets that Shadowland is the dumping ground for failed government experiments, the rumors that say there’s nothing in Shadowland, that it’s just an empty city and is merely used to keep children in line under the fear that if they misbehave they’ll end up in the city of ‘blood thirsty beasts.’
But you know better than that.
You know that Shadowland is a safe haven for the poor beings who were deemed ‘different’ than the rest of their peers, ridiculed and teased daily until driven away into the open and welcoming arms of the growing community filled with others just likes them.
You also know that within Shadowland exists a rigid system with three main groups, the Royals, the Impartial and the Strays. The Royals are everything the Strays could ever hope to be; wealthy, powerful, and glamorous. The Strays are those that have yet to find their way into the loose inner workings of the Royal faction, or those that have no desire to join or simply can’t join. And lastly there’s the Impartial, who have no place being called a Stray or Royal, neither rich nor poor, powerful or weak. They are just there.
You know that without this steadfast division, the very pillars of Shadowland society would collapse and chaos would reign within its borders and believe the system to be as fair as fair can be. But with this in mind it would only make sense that there are those with dark hearts who wish to cause nothing but trouble and heartache and will seemingly stop at nothing to bring Shadowland to its knees.
It’s your choice on what happens. Your choice on what faction you place yourself in. Everything here is your choice.
